On June 3, the OPC hosted a book night with photojournalist Guillaume Bonn about his new book, Paradise Inc.
New York Times Managing Editor and OPC governor Marc Lacey moderated. Paradise Inc. covers environmental conservation in Africa amid increasing climate change and human encroachment. The book includes two decades of Bonn’s visual documentation of change in the East African wilderness.

During the discussion, Bonn talked about his attempt to unravel the idealized, postcard image of Africa and explore the realities of the conservation business and the most pressing causes of conflict between humans and animals in Africa. Lacey asked Bonn about the impact of eco tourism and encroaching development, Bonn’s portraits of park rangers and reporting on private reserves, and he fields questions from the audience about a range of issues including the luxury safari industry and the role of governments in Africa.
