VIDEO: In The Thick Of It – Ukraine

On Feb. 22, the OPC hosted a panel with Ukrainian journalists from the front lines as the world marked the anniversary of Russia’s invasion. David A. Andelman, a past president of the OPC, a columnist for CNN Opinion and author, moderated the discussion with: Alla Koren is editor of the local newspaper “Time. People. Events”; Alina Kravchenko, who works remotely for the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine on a project focused on Ukrainian journalists; and Glib Golovchenko, chairman of the Mykolaiv Press Club and president of the All-Ukrainian Association of Press Clubs.

Panelists reflected on the turmoil of the past year, and discussed the current state of media in Ukraine, what local audiences want from their coverage, the challenges of Russian misinformation campaigns, among other issues.

Panelists spoke in Ukrainian with translation from Maryna Prykhodko, a Ukrainian activist and volunteer based in New York who serves on the Executive/Leadership team of the non-profit organization Razom for Ukraine.
