Contract Journalist for Transmedia Project
Orb is looking for a journalist with dirt on their boots, who’s eager to deliver global stories and possesses a profound curiosity about our shared human experience. Right now Orb has stories on deck about plastics in the environment, aging and mega-cities at sea-level.
You’ll be responsible for:
• Working in a small team of 2-5 people to collaboratively deliver Orb’s stories. This means partnering at various times with our statistician and data-visualization contractors, your reporting partner, editor, the CEO, video editor, translators (in the field and in post production) and Orb’s communications team to develop, report, produce, translate and deliver a transmedia project.
• Driving all Orb stories from start to finish—
- Researching (existing coverage, available data, Subject Matter Experts), developing and pitching the focus of a global story,
- Working with the data analysis team to shape queries and utilize results, o Planning, logistics and budgeting,
- Conducting social journalism as well as
- On the ground reporting, collecting notes, video, audio and then
- Editing that work into final English deliverables for translation.
