NEW YORK, Jan. 28, 2026 – Raney Aronson-Rath, editor-in-chief and executive producer of FRONTLINE, PBS’ flagship investigative journalism documentary series, will receive the OPC’s President’s Award for lifetime achievement at the club’s 87th Annual Awards Dinner on April 20 at Cipriani 25 Broadway.
Aronson-Rath oversees FRONTLINE’s reporting and directs the series’ editorial vision, producing more than 20 in-depth documentaries each year on critical issues facing the country and the world. Under her leadership, FRONTLINE has investigated the impact of Russia’s war on Ukraine, the deep historical and regional context behind the Israel-Hamas war, threats to democracy in the U.S. and abroad and the world’s response to a global coronavirus pandemic. The series is produced at GBH in Boston.
“We are thrilled to honor Raney and recognize her important role in international journalism today,” said Scott Kraft, OPC president and editor at large at the Los Angeles Times. “She is a major force in documentary journalism, a pioneer in investigative storytelling and a champion of transparency in media.”
FRONTLINE has won every major award in journalism and media under her leadership, including an Academy Award, Peabody Awards, Emmy Awards and the Alfred I. duPont Gold Baton.
Aronson-Rath led teams that twice won the OPC’s Peter Jennings Award for best longform documentary about international affairs. The 2023 award went to FRONTLINE and The Associated Press for “20 Days in Mariupol,” which also won an Academy Award. FRONTLINE won the 2019 Jennings Award for “For Sama,” a powerful personal story about a mother’s love for her young daughter amid a war that unleashed a humanitarian disaster in Syria. FRONTLINE, in association with Channel 4, also received the OPC’s 2017 Edward R. Murrow Award for the short documentary “Mosul.”
Aronson-Rath joined FRONTLINE in 2007 as a senior producer after having produced critically acclaimed documentaries for FRONTLINE and for ABC News. She was named deputy executive producer by David Fanning, the series’ founder, in 2012, and became executive producer in 2015.
She served as a governor of the OPC from 2021 to 2025.
