Iraq was the story in 2003, and many good journalists were in the field. CNN’s Nie Robertson got inside access to the planning and execution of an American raid. His piece captures the psychology of Iraq today and of the Americans and Iraqis who misunderstand each other, despite good intentions. It fairly portrays anxiety among the Americans and fear and anger among the Iraqis. The result of much preparation and thoughtful work in the field, the 11-minute piece is brisk yet displays intimacy and depth.
