The Thomas Nast Award 2002

Best cartoons on international affairs

AWARD YEAR: 2002

AWARD NAME: The Thomas Nast Award 2002

RECIPIENT: Kevin Kallaugher

AFFILIATION: The Baltimore Sun

HONORED WORK: Best Cartoons

Kevin Kallaugher combines an elegant hand with a searing wit. Whether he’s showing George Bush teaching Tony Blair how to act like a gun-slinging cowboy, or lampooning Robert Mugabe’s version of one-man, one-vote, it’s hard to believe that anyone could have done it better than Kal. This year, no one did.
