Laura Kasinof Reading From ‘Don’t Be Afraid of the Bullets: An Accidental War Correspondent in Yemen’
Laura Kasinof moved to Sanaa, Yemen in 2009 after studying Arabic in college. When she arrived, she was the only American reporter based in the country. She quickly fell for Yemen’s people and culture and even found herself starring in a local TV soap opera.
In Don’t Be Afraid of the Bullets: An Accidental War Correspondent in Yemen, Kasinof recounts her experiences as a freelance journalist covering Arab Spring protests and insurgency in Yemen in 2011 for The New York Times.
