Dateline: Weighing the Risks

In December last year I returned to Pakistan.

It was just for two weeks, but it had the effect of helping
me reconnect with the person I had been before the April 4, 2014 shooting in
eastern Afghanistan, when a crazed gunman stole from me one of my dearest
friends, the award-winning photojournalist Anja Niedringhaus, and changed my
life.
