OPC Condemns Killings of Five Somali Journalists

The OPC writes to condemn the vicious attacks on the media in Somalia. They are the most deadly in all of Africa this year: five journalists have been killed, and others injured, harassed, threatened, or forced to flee the country.

North Korea June 10, 2009

The show trial and June 8 sentencing of American correspondents, Laura Ling and Euna Lee, are a grave offense to journalists around the world. We at the OPC have made the case in two previous letters to the Korea government. If they mistakenly strayed over an undefined border into North Korean territory from China, they might — at most — deserve a reprimand.

We write to applaud the evident determination of the Mexican Attorney General to find the killers of our colleague, Eliseo Barrón Hernández, murdered last week after being dragged from his home in Gómez Palacio.

Russia Replies March 24, 2009
