OPC President Paula Dwyer lights the Candle of Remembrance, this year dedicated to journalists from Ukraine, Belarus and Russia who resisted and defied the withdrawal of press freedoms in their regions, at great risk to their lives. The OPC President's Award for 2022 went to Jimmy Lai and the entire staff of Apple Daily in recognition of their unflagging commitment to free-press principles and of their bravery and fortitude in the face of the Hong Kong government's harassment, staff arrests, and forced shutdown.
